ELECTIONS

Elections for positions on the Coiste Gnó na nDaltaí (National Student Executive) and Monitoring & Advisory Committee (MAC) will take place on the in person day of An Chomhdháil Bhlaintúil (Annual Assembly) You can read about the Election Procedure on your right, and as always direct any questions related to elections to the Returning Officer, Nadine Toye at returningofficer@issu.ie

Election Procedure

Each member school of the ISSU is entitled to nominate 2 voting delegates to attend Annual Assembly.

Voting delegates in attendance will receive a unique voting link on the day of Annual Assembly.

Election takes place using Proportional Representation, Single Transferable Vote. Voters should rank candidates in order of preference.

Candidates must receive 50%+1 of all votes to be elected, or be the final candidate on the ballot after all other lower placed candidates are eliminated.

Hustings

Election Hustings will be taking place over two nights, March 29th and 30th. Each night will kick off at 6:30pm. The Zoom link will be automatically sent to registered delegates like you. (Anyone not attending An Chomhdháil Bhlaintúil will need to go to the ISSU Linktree and register to attend) Further details of which positions will be on which night will be circulated shortly.

You can submit up to 3 questions for any position via the form below.

Questions must be aimed at the position and not a particular candidate.

Re-Open Nominations (R.O.N) is an obligatory alternative which will appear on the ballot in every race.

If you are not happy with the candidates standing for election, you can vote to Re-Open Nominations (RON)

ISSU uses a Single Transferable Voting system, so you can give one of your preferences to RON. You can give RON your number one vote or a lower preference ahead of the remaining candidates.
