Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of the Irish Second-Level Students’ Union (ISSU) have legal responsability for the organisation. The Board was restructured as part of the ISSU’s Strategic Plan where, starting in 2022, specific portfolios were identified and subsequently, recruitment of Directors who skills and experience fulfilled each portfolio began.

The Board consists of nine Directors. Within the Board, three Directors sit on the Oversight Committee; the Chair, the Managing Director, and the Company Secretary.

Róisín Boyle

Chairperson

Róisin has served as the Chair of the Board of Directors since 2019 and leads the Board on a day-to-day basis. Róisin is also an Employment Rights Solicitor with SIPTU.

Chloe Griffin

Managing Director

Chloe joined the Board in 2020 and serves as the Managing Director. Previously, Chloe held multiple roles within the ISSU, including as Leas-Uachtarán in 2019/20.

Brian Connolly

Company Secretary

Brian joined the Board of Directors in 2021 and has served as Company Secretary since his appointment. Brian ensures ISSU complies with our obligations as a charity.

Luke Casserly

Funding Director

Luke joined the Board of Directors in 2021, having previously served in multiple officer roles. Luke has responsibility for all funding activities, including draw-downs and new funding opportunities.

Fiona Dunne

Organisational Development Director

Fiona is the Director with responsibility for Organisational Development. Fiona joined the Board of Directors in 2021. She has works for FÓRSA Trade Union and specialises in training and facilitation.

Ciarán Flynn

Finance, Audit, & Risk Director

Ciarán has been the Finance, Audit, & Risk Director since his appointment to the Board in 2023. Ciarán is also an experienced post-primary teacher and is the Meath GAA County Secretary.

Rebecca Woolf

HR Director

Rebecca brought her wealth of knowledge in the HR space to the ISSU when she joined the Board in 2023. Rebecca is also the Director of HR & Staff Development in FÓRSA Trade Union.

The Compliance Director provides guidance to the Designated Liaison Person (DLP) to ensure upmost compliance with Child Protection best-practice.
