ELECTIONS
THE ISSU ELECTIONS EXPLAINED
Elections Explained:
ISSU is democratic organisation, so our student officers are elected. At Chomhdháil, there will be two sets of elections; for the Coiste Gnó na nDaltaí and the Monitoring & Advisory Committee. Both are elected by you, the student council representatives of ISSU member schools.
Like with a general election, votes are cast via PR-STV or proportional representation with a single transferable vote. Simply put: you rank your candidates in order preference starting with 1.
In order to run any position in the Irish Second-level Students’ Union, you must
Come from a member school.
Received a nomination from your student council.
Reside in Ireland for the duration of your term.
Any student can run for any position, but obviously there are some more senior positions in which experience in the organisation would be highly important!
If you have any questions, please contact studentvoice@issu.ie, @issu4u or (01) 443 4461.
