Please note the quiz mentioned here is unavailable and has been replaced with the information below regarding the different levels. At the beginning of each level you will come across a checklist to determine whether you are ready for that particular level

 Welcome to the ISSU Training Hub 2024. Here you will be able to access 30 minute training segments for each ISSU student council scale level.

Please see what each level below contains to decide what level course you should be taking.

If you feel like you’re between levels - begin with the more basic level, once you have all the tasks completed for that level you should move on to the next level.

 

What’s contained in level 1

This is a good follow on from level 0 if you are very new but is for a less new student councils. It will contain

  • How to elect roles & understand the different responsibilities each role has

  • How to create a constitution & code of conduct

  • How to communicate with your peers

  • How to complete an action as a student council

Level 0 is a very basic introduction to the student council. This would be if your student council is very new and has little to no experience

  • How to draft a Constitution

  • How to run a structured meeting

  • How to elect roles on your student council

 

What’s contained in Level 2

Level 2 is a step up from level one which focuses on communication with other stakeholders than your peers.

  • Different roles and responsibilities for your student council

  • Communication with your peers and other stakeholders

  • How to complete an action as a student council

What’s contained in level 3

Level 3 is a step away from the basics and moves on to more advanced ideas - you won’t find anything on drafting a constitution or roles & responsibilities.

  • How to have an empowered student council and running events

  • Importance of communicating with stakeholders including the Board of Management

  • Policy review & creation as a student council

 

What’s contained in Level 4

Level 4 is more focused on external communication and also focuses on the importance of becoming active by running campaigns.

  • Meeting with stakeholders including the Board of Management

  • Completing an action in your school AND running a campaign

  • The importance of policy for student councils

What’s contained in Level 5

Level 5 is heavily focused on being an autonomous student council and working within the school community and the wider community.

  • Requesting an advisory position on the Board of Management

  • Enagaing with the wider community

  • How to get involved with the ISSU at a high level

The training should take no more than 30 minutes including discussion time and will give you a list of tasks you need to complete once you complete the training. Once this is done - please let us know with photo evidence so we can send you out your digital & physical certificate.
