Office of the Leas- Uachtarán of the Irish Second Level Students Union

As set out in the constitution, Section 10, Subsection 10.2, the role of the Leas-Uachtarán is defined as follows:

The ISSU Leas-Uachtarán shall focus on the development and growth of the ISSU with an emphasis on internal policies, structures, membership, and the organisation’s structuring. They are members of the Senior Leadership Team. Their role is introspective, ensuring a strong, highly effective, and organised. Working with the Uachtarán, they will ensure that the yearly work plan of the ISSU is fulfilled within their term and that the Coiste Gnó acts on Directive Mandates passed at An Comhdháil Bhliantúil.

They are also responsible for leading the ISSU Student Council Training Programme review each year in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team and the Regional Support Liaison Officer. The Leas-Uachtarán will also help to promote grassroots engagement within the union. Additionally, the Leas-Uachtarán will act as Rúnaí (Secretary) of the Coiste Gnó and will assume the duties of the Uachtarán in their absence.
