JC French

Roisin (Higher Level)

Today we had French and history. The day started with French and I felt that it went pretty well. The listening section was easy enough; I think I only missed one or two answers. The reading comprehensions were all fine, except for number nine which was pretty tricky. The letter wasn't too bad either, I had all the vocab for it and I hope, all the right verbs! The short note was easier than the letter, I thought, but it usually is! Overall, I thought French was fine!

James (Higher Level)

This morning I had my French exam. This exam started with the tape section which was not too difficult to understand or answer. There were then several comprehensions to be answered in English. For the final part of the exam, I had to write a note and a letter in French. Learning my notes helped with this part of the exam. The last comprehension was tough but I feel the whole exam went well.

LC Business

Owen (Higher Level)

Ah business... my favourite subject, so much to say, so much to write about, so much common sense involved but oh so LITTLE time to do the exam! The Paper proved to be a nice little paper overall, nothing out of the ordinary in the short questions, the ABQ was a nice little piece on Management and the use of IT in business quite a walk in the park for a Leaving Cert student. The long questions again had a nice variety from EU policy to franchising and branding it was overall, a nice paper! However with the pros also come the cons, much like every other aspect of the business some of the questions were a bit vague and wishy washy resulting in again what is found in every aspect of business...waffle...but again that is the art of business and proved not too difficult to master! :DAlso the timing!! My poor hand, I now know how those monks felt writing manuscripts all day... God bless them! There was a lot of time management to be done in this exam and it was easy to let yourself go especially on the ABQ. However, I finished with 5mins to spare to have a quick glance back over and tidy things up.Now to get ready for French, oh the joys, thankfully though I have no more full days!A demain, bonne chance!

JC Maths Paper 1

Roisin (Higher Level)

Maths was a different story to geography... I was able to answer questions one, three and four straight off, but I couldn't get question two, five are six the first time. When I went back over it, I worked out question four, and most of question six, but question five was hopeless. :( It wasn't just me either... several of my friends came out convinced they had failed (they probably won’t have), having only been able to answer one or two questions. So I guess today was a day of mixed results, but at least it’s the weekend, and I can study hard for paper two and brush up on C.S.P.E. And sleep!

James (Higher Level)

After lunch today, I had Maths Paper 1. This exam was two and a half hours long and consisted of six questions. I managed to complete the first four without much trouble. However, question five and six proved to be difficult and I'm fairly disappointed, as I got a little caught for time. This was the toughest part of the Junior Cert for me so far.I'll continue to study over the weekend and prepare for next week. Talk soon, James.

JC Geography

Rosin (Higher Level)

Geography was first this morning, and it was easier than I expected! The short questions were all straightforward, and the long questions were all ones I had studied, (I chose questions one, four and five) so I was really lucky!

James (Higher Level)

Today, the third day of the exams, I had Geography and Mathematics Paper 1. I attempted higher level papers for both subjects.Geography started with Section 1 consisting of twenty short answer questions. I answered the three required long questions in Section 2 afterwards. The sixth question on this paper was the 'Aerial Photograph and Ordnance Survey Map' question. It was actually based on my own hometown Carrick-on-Suir which was a bit of a surprise but a very pleasant one at that so I flew through that question and overall, I was happy with it.
